Mokoena falls short in Oslo

Cape Town - Versatile athlete Khotso Mokoena settled for eighth place in the Men's Triple jump on Thursday night, as the IAAF Diamond League series reached the midway stage at the seventh leg of the campaign in Oslo, Norway.

The only SA athlete competing at the Meeting, Mokoena improved with each of his attempts, producing efforts of 15.30m, 15.79m and 16.08m.

After the third round, however, he fell 58cm short of making the four-man cut and was eliminated from the competition.

Alexis Copello of Cuba went on to secure victory with a best leap of 16.91m.

The eighth of 14 legs in the 2016 Diamond League series will be held in Stockholm, Sweden on June 16 (next week Thursday).
