Cape Town - The SA junior team enjoyed another solid session on Friday morning, with four of the five athletes in action making it through to the next rounds of their respective events, on Day Four of the IAAF World U-20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Johan Grobler delivered the fourth best heave in the qualifying round of the Men's Javelin Throw, launching a 74.79m Personal Best to book his place in Saturday night's final.
Compatriot Erich Wiese, who produced a best effort of 68.61, was eliminated in the opening round.
Taylon Bieldt also set a career record, clocking 13.58 to finish second in her heat, progressing automatically to the Women's 100m Hurdles semifinals, which were scheduled to be held on Saturday evening.
Sprinter Tamzin Thomas ended fifth in her heat of the Women's 200m dash in 24.11, doing enough to reach the penultimate round of the half-lap event.
Middle-distance runner George Kusche negotiated his way safely through the first round of the Men's 800m contest, taking third place in his heat in 1:50.40 as he geared up to compete in Saturday's semifinals.
