Semenya eyeing world record

Pretoria - Olympic silver medallist Caster Semenya has her sights set on the world record after almost a year’s break from the track.

Semenya's personal best in the women's 800m is one minute, 55.45 seconds (1:55.45) which she clocked at the 2009 Berlin World Championships.

"I am very happy with what I've done in training over the last two months and going under two minutes shows I have a talent.

"So you have to be clever and that is what we’ve been correcting in the gym.

"Maybe I can double in the 400m or 1500m, but it will depend on the coach and my strength and how I respond through training.

"Soon I will be back to my standard.

"I’ve rectified my mistakes so I think things are looking good and I will be going there with a positive mindset and running my old style."
