Sprinter suspended after positive doping test

The Hague - Dutch sprinter Brian Mariano has been provisionally suspended after failing a doping test last month in France.

The Dutch athletics federation's technical director, Ad Roskam, declined Tuesday to say what substance the indoor 60-meter specialist tested positive for in the doping control on Feb. 6. He said results of testing on the backup "B'' sample have not yet been published.

Mariano is a three-time national champion and national record holder in the indoor sprint.

In a statement, Mariano says he has "no idea" how he had ingested a banned substance and said it was possible it was in a supplement that he ordered over the Internet.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
