Johannesburg - Suspended Athletics South Africa (ASA) officials are taking the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) to court on Thursday, to stop their disciplinary hearing from going ahead, according to a report on Eyewitnessnews .
SASCOC was served with court papers on Wednesday.
”The documents were served in Johannesburg and went straight to the Legal Committee. We have confidence in the legal team that we have appointed and they will handle this matter on our behalf,” said SASCOC’s Mubarak Mohammed.
The federation’s board President Leonard Chuene and several other staff members were suspended last year. They are being investigated for their role in the Caster Semenya gender verification debacle and financial irregularities.
The first sitting of the disciplinary inquiry was scheduled to start on Thursday.
