4 sporting events to watch this long weekend

Cape Town -  It's the weekend!

But the sporting world never sleeps, so hang on tight and be sure to watch these FOUR events!

1. English Premiership

The English Premiership is here to keep us entertained this weekend.

We start off with Liverpool hosting Stoke City at Anfield (13:30 SA time), Crystal Palace takes on Leicester City (16:00 SA time), Huddersfield Town face Everton (16:00 SA time) and Swansea City have a opportunity to dampen Chelsea's Champions League chances at 18:30 (SA time).

On Sunday, West Ham United host the newly crowned 2017/18 English Premier League champions, Manchester City (15:15 SA time) and then we are entertained with the anticipating match between old foes as Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford (17:30 SA time).

If you took an extra long weekend (lucky you!), Tottenham Hotspurs host Watford on Monday at 21:00 (SA time).

2. World Rugby Sevens

We're in Singapore for the eighth leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series.

Log leaders, the Blitzboks, will face Samoa (06:06 SA time), Canada (09:34 SA time) and Argentina (13:00 SA time) in their Pool C fixtures on Saturday.

The Cup final is scheduled for Sunday 14:00 (SA time) with the Blitzboks hopefully featuring - and coming out on top!

3. Absa Premiership

On Saturday, reigning champions Wits host Amazulu (15:00), Benni McCarthy's Cape Town City will look to stop Orlando Pirates from gaining any points (15:00) and Kaizer Chiefs are eager to get their first win - since their upsetting Nedbank Cup semi-final loss - when they take on Maritzburg United (15:00).

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns look to extend their lead at the top of the table with a win over Ajax Cape Town (15:00).

4. Super Rugby

Round 11 of the Super Rugby action gets under way this weekend.

On Saturday, the Lions will look to continue their form Down Under when they take on the Reds (07:05 SA time), the Blues host the Jaguares at Eden Park (09:35 SA time) and the Brumbies try and unsettle the Crusaders (11:45 SA time).

We end off in the afternoon, as the Bulls face the Highlanders at Loftus Versfeld at 17:15.

Notable mentions include the PRO14 clash between the Kings and Cheetahs (Saturday, 15:00), the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Indian Premier League and the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic.
