4 must-watch weekend sporting events

Cape Town - It's the weekend!

But the sporting world never sleeps, so hang on tight and be sure to watch these FOUR events (in no particular order)!

1. AUSTRALIAN OPEN

We're in the business end of the Australian Open, as places are up for grabs in the quarter-final.

This weekend we have some mouthwatering matches, which include the third round encounters between former No 1's Angelique Kerber takes on Maria Sharapova (Saturday, 10:00 SA time) and then we see Frenchman Richard Gasquet battle the defending champion, Roger Federer (Saturday, 11:50 SA time).

It's a must-watch this weekend!

2. ABSA PREMIERSHIP

On Saturday, the much-anticipated Cape Town derby takes center stage as Cape Town City FC play Ajax Cape Town (15:30), Mamelodi Sundowns host Platinum Stars (18:00) and a determined Orlando Pirates take on Polokwane City (20:15).

Then we head to mouthwatering fixture between Baroka FC and Kaizer Chiefs (15:30) and Chippa United hosting Golden Arrows (15:30).

3.  ABU DHABI HSBC CHAMPIONSHIP

We're in Dubai, as the star-studded Abu Dhabi Championship heads into the weekend.

Will world No 1 Dustin Johnson drive his way into charge, or will the reigning Race of Dubai holder Tommy Fleetwood continue his stellar 2017 season and defend his title this year?

How about a sneaky SA win ... Grace?

4. ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP

The English Premiership is here to keep us entertained this weekend.

We start off with the Arsenal hosting Crystal Palace (Saturday, 17:00 SA time), an exciting fixture between Burnley and  Manchester United (Saturday, 17:00 SA time) and top of the log Manchester City looking to bounce back against Newcastle United (Saturday, 19:30 SA time).

On Sunday, we're treated with a sole game between Southampton and the rising Tottenham Hotspur at 18:00 SA time.
