3 sporting events to watch this long weekend

Cape Town - It's the final few days of 2017!

But the sporting world never sleeps, so hang on tight and be sure to watch these THREE events (in no particular order)!

1. HOPMAN CUP

World No 2 Roger Federer embarks on his 21st professional season in Perth.

Federer will partner Belinda Bencic at the Hopman Cup, his only event before launching his Australian Open title defence on January 15.

However, he is up against fierce competition from world No 4 Alexander Zverev and partner former world No 1 Angelique Kerber.

2. ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP

The English Premiership is here to keep us entertained into the New Year.

We start off with a bang as Liverpool take on Leicester City (Saturday, 17:00 SA time), Chelsea battle Stoke City (17:00 SA time) and Manchester United hosting Southampton at Old Trafford (Saturday, 19:30 SA time).

On Sunday, Crystal Palace host the unbeatable Manchester City at 14:00 SA time, while West Bromwich Albion host Arsene Wenger's Arsenal at 18:30 SA time.

Then kicking off the 2018 in style, on New Year's Day Burnley host Liverpool (17:00 SA time) and then the exciting clash between Everton and Manchester United (19:30 SA time).

3. BLACK CAPS V WINDIES, T20I

The West Indies are already trailing the three-match T20I series, 1-0.

New Zealand, on the other hand, want to kick-off the New Year with a solid victory at home.

Play gets underway on Monday at Mount Maunganui on 07:30 SA time.
