Where will KP fit in?

It would be interesting to see where they fit KP in, if they do. Positions 3-7 are all sealed with Ballance, Bell, Root, Stokes and Buttler all getting runs. And that's without having to accommodate Moeen whose return is imminent. So that only leaves one of the two opening slots for KP who isn't a natural opener.

But then Trott isn't a natural opener either and England are trying him so they're obviously desperate to fill that role. Could they try KP in a David Warner style role to smash opposition bowlers off their line and length? It might be worth a go but it would run contrary to Peter Moores' conservative style.

Cook and KP would also make possibly the oddest opening pair in cricket history. But then, it's not certain Cook will make the Ashes either. If his current form in WI continues, it looks like Eng will only have the NZ home Tests to try and bed in a new opening pair AND a new skipper.
