I’m a Cape Flats boytjie so let me say from the start that I support WP and I expect them to win as well. Why, you toothless Shark supporters ask, why?
Well, firstly we’re playing at Newlands and that anamoly that happened in the Super Rugby semis will not happen again. Lighting don’t strike twice.
Secondly, WP are unbeaten and have been the most consistent team in the Currie Cup this season.
Thirdly, both teams had Springboks returning to the squad and WP look the stronger because of it. I would have thought the Sharks would have been stronger, especially their front row, but the DuP bros and Beast look like they’ve had enough for this season. Lambie does look rather hungry though…
Fourthly, WP backline is miles better than the Sharks. No question. Don’t even go there.
And the fifth and final point? If any team is going to win back-to-back Currie Cups, then it has to be Western Province. They have the history, the calibre and the players. Dis ‘n Province ding.
So be it
