Cape Town - Sport24 readers say Adriaan Strauss should captain the Springboks if Jean de Villiers is ruled out with injury for the Italy Test.
According to reports, the Springboks could face Italy with a new captain in their Test at Kings Park on Saturday. Kick-off is at 17:15.
Bok captain De Villiers did not train on Monday as he's struggling with a mild hamstring strain that he picked up in the Stormers clash against the Kings at Newlands last Saturday.
According to team doctor, Craig Roberts, a decision on De Villiers' availability will be taken later in the week.
Cheetahs captain Strauss is the favourite to take over as temporary captain in De Villiers' absence, with Pierre Spies also in contention.
Here's what Sport24 readers had to say:
"Adriaan Strauss! Spies must concentrate on his rugby." - Clive Wright
"Adriaan Strauss should have been first choice captain in the first place. Jean is not a leader." - Fayaz Mohamed
"Would like my captain Spies to take it, but Strauss was last year's vice captain so it should go to him." - Marius Pruis
"Adriaan. if you based captaincy by meters gained on a field..." - De Wet Heime Slabbert
"Adriaan strauss, as capi, and vice captain Spies." - Jean Venter
"If the starting no.8 is Spies, then he should take over the captaincy role." - Reuben Mentor
"Adriaan Strauss as captain and Pierre Spies as vice - both have done superb jobs in the Super Rugby." - Susan Boyle
"Strauss is the epitome of what a captain should be, a player that leads from the front and although Bismarck is a great hooker I believe Strauss just offers a bit more (technique, skills and leadership)." - Joe Massa
"Strauss leads from the front, he'll relish the opportunity against the Italians." - Gary Doyle
"Strauss is the best choice. Spies is second choice, because he has been playing in a winning Super 15 team." - Trev2
Adrian Strauss or Pierre Spies are deserving of that honor. What's more they are both currently the in-form players and the best in their respective positions. Both playing for successful teams I might add." - Jeffrey Aucamp
