Further, look at how little rugby there is on SABC. Supersport bought the right to the PSL but government forced a deal to ensure top local soccer on SABC (not that I disagree with that). Supersport also bought the rights to Super Rugby and the Currie Cup but there is none of that on SABC, not even the Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup 2nd division. SABC does show the springbok games but they are also all delayed transmissions.
With maybe only 10% - 15% of the country having access to watching rugby and most township schools having no rugby (and cricket) as school sports, how does our sports minister expect the black man to embrace rugby? It's great to say that they want to have more inclusive sports teams but then setup the foundations and start building from the ground. Talk is cheap Minister Mbalula...
