Sepp Blatter was offside

In an recent address to the Oxford Union, Sepp Blatter, the Fifa President, was asked, the question that sparks many a debate among football fans, Who is better? Messi or Ronaldo. The video can be seen here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sRa9tmU9Yk) Ronaldo has taken offence to the comments. Do you think his reaction is justified? Should Blatter have said what he said? did what he did?

Personally I think that Sepp Blatter that should not have expressed a favourite, simply because of the position he holds. Also he should not have said that Messi is a son that any parent would want, implying that Ronaldo isn’t? Although I see that there isn’t much malice intended in the comments themselves, it can be interpreted negatively.
