Honestly, I feel SARU is missing the point of transformation. What if any impact will five players of colour have on transforming the sport? If you look at the crowds at a rugby match, 90% of the spectators are white.
Of want to transform the sport, start with the supporters. If you can get 10 000 supporters of colour to attend the games, then you have transformed something. Not to force 5 players on the field.
Yes the Southern Kings did not pick enough players from the region i their team, but did you see how many supporters were not white? And they were supportong their team, no matter the colour of the players. Noe that was transforming the game...
