Quotas have no place in school sport

Just to throw a spanner in the works - I was a school teacher for 10 years and coached sport up to first team levels throughout. 

If you think armchair critics are bad, trying explaining to an irate parent why their child (who is always the best of course) has been left out of the squad and replaced by a player of colour. 

Why not just encourage kids to play the sports that they like? If they enjoy them enough they will try to be the best they can be, which might make them the best in their position and allow them to be picked for the team with nobody moaning either about their being a quota or the coach being blamed for a lack of transformation.
