Opinion divided on Du Preez

Cape Town - Sport24 readers' opinions are divided on Heyneke Meyer allegedly offering Fourie du Preez the Bok captaincy.

According to weekend reports, Meyer met with Du Preez, currently plying his trade in Japan, to offer him the position on a short-term basis.

"Fourie has never been more than a stand-in captain for any side he has played in." - Frans Visser

"Meyer's approach may well be worse than PDV's and who would have guessed that."
- Goyougoodthing

"Virtually every starting Bull is in Heyneke Meyer's Bok squad. It stinks." - Jo Neethling

"Bring back Divvie PLEASE!!!"
- Chris

"Dusting off old names in the hall of fame is not the way forward. Lets use guys who are S15 hardened!" - Lance

"Just as we thought would happen...the whole 'blou bloed' thing! For goodness sake - take your blue blinkers off Heyneke..."
- Jeanette

"And so the circus is still alive! It's just the main clown that's been replaced!" - Henk

"We are probably the only country where the national captain gets chosen before he qualifies for a place in the side."
- Willie Mostert

"The problem is that HM is living in the past." - Charles Wolfhaardt

"It's just speculation, and some people are already stoning HM. Lets wait and see."
- Johan

"Bring on Fourie, Heyneke. The past few Super15 games shown SA do not have halfbacks! The AB's will 'KLAP' the Bokke without a good number 9!" - Jco

"HM is a professional and if he feels he needs FdP for the short term who are you to say otherwise ? Tell us, how many Super Rugby titles have you won?" - John Edwards 435355

"Bulls have NOT failed under HM, don't compare Boks as a failure before HM has even coached and played ONE game. But just because he is from Bulls country he will be hated, judged, etc. etc."
- Rene

"I trust Heyneke Meyer's Judgement." - Alicia

Fourie du Preez's team Suntory Sungoliath won the Japanese Rugby league.
