With the new rules that have come into effect as October, the game has shifted much towards the batsmen’s favour. With the required extra fielder in the ring coupled with the power rules changes from earlier, it doesn’t seem to be a even match between willow and leather.
With less protection for the bowler are we seeing a shift in emphasis just to make cricket more marketable? (I am presuming thats why they implemented the changes)
India have chased two 350+ scores against Australia recently. The games were filled with boundaries, pretty much from start to finish. We all know that the Indian team lacks some quality in the bowling department but the Australian bowling outfit is rather solid. Also are teams going to start loading their teams with 7-8 batsmen when they play on flatter pitches?
The Proteas game yesterday gave me some hope, but that win was more attributed to some really rash batting coupled with good bowling by the boys.
