Fans vent Bafana rage

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have expressed their anger after Bafana's disappointing exit from the 2014 CHAN against Nigeria.

The Super Eagles beat South Africa 3-1 at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday night to send the hosts crashing out of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Nigeria needed to win to progress, and win they did, opening the scoring in the 21st minute, continuing their stranglehold over Bafana.

South Africa have now lost six out of eight encounters against Nigeria, with one draw and only one win back in 2004.

This is what Sport24 readers had to say about Bafana's exit from the 2014 CHAN.

"Our players are not good enough to compete internationally. Not the coach fault, but the players. You can not teach or buy passion/drive/ambition. Our low standards is filtering into our sports and soon we will be a nation of losers and we will be the laughing stock of Africa. How embarrassing." - Charl du Preez

"It was always going to be hard for Gordon, with teams like Pirates and Supersport United refusing to release their players. with the absence of Khune, we could do with Meyiwa or Williams, in the midfield, no Jali nor Manyisa. it's really not fair." - Lundile Zwani

"Igesund or no Igesund our standard of soccer is pathetic. International agents don't even search for players in SA. If we loose like this how could we even dream of a World Cup?" - Jack du Preez

"What a bunch of pathetic losers Bafana are. Not even the best coach in History can get these useless players to compete on an International level. For a country that's 'Football Crazy', we sure suck at it." - Wade Johnson

"Where is the development at 5, 6, 7 year old? They can't even provide toilets to these kids. To get quality players you need to develop them from a very young age. Look at how Europe does it. Then you will know why they are SOOO much better. We do it in certain sports, like rugby and golf and we have some of the best players in the world in these sports. Until we sort out development at foundation level, we will never get anywhere. A coach can do only so much with the talent at his disposal. If talent (development) is lacking, he will not succeed..." Absolutely Believable. A team that cannot beat a starving nation for the world cup
A team that has not qualified for any competition for over 5 years. A team that could not beat Mali. Going into this game head to head agaist nigeria 6 times, Bafana lost 5." - Jose Perrota

"I hate igesund, bafana and the damn adminstrators. How can we be humiliated like this. The technical staff, the whole lot,has to go.They have ran out of ideas." - Bantu Jonginamba

"Ja what do you expect when we got no one at the poles, I heard that Itumeleng Khune was ruled out therefore we went there without a goalkeeper." - Lums Zindala

"We were outclassed by a bunch of kids from Nigeria, in our own back yard!!!! Disgusting ..." - Gary Bhengu

"It should've been expected from this bunch of losers." - Mike Steenkamp

"Bafana Bafana players are useless they under a big curse infact the word 'Bafana' is a curse!" - Simphiwe Masimula

"I think you need to adopt the name The Men The Men for a change may be they would start playing like one." - Tomiwa Adetola

"We must remember that SAFA is still owing that Sangoma, and this sangoma did warn SA that it will never be succesful till a full amount its been paid to him, we took it like a joke but look now wats happening, anyway i blame Zuma n Orlando Pirate fans." - Ras Ja Moolka Mokwena

"Igesund has no reason to continue with this useless bafana." - Sello Mapeka

"Bafana 1 - 0 Spain....:...eish it was a friendle game, Bafana 1 - 3 Nigeria in the competition game.....why, someone help me understand please." - Aubrey Mnisi

"Maybe it's the same as with our cricket, in series and on tours we rule, but if we are in a competition... Choke..." - J Maree

"Men were separated from the boys. Literally and figuratively." - Tatana Mabasa

"This is a mickey mouse tournament but the problem is Bafana can't qualify for AFCON or the World Cup either." - Binne Goed
