Fans predict pain for Proteas

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have predicted a loss for the Proteas against Pakistan after a disappointing start to the first Test.

Khurram Manzoor batted for almost an entire day to score an unbeaten maiden Test match century, while brilliant knocks from Shan Mahsood and Misbah-ul-Haq put Pakistan well on top, as they continued to amass runs in their first innings after overtaking the Proteas' first innings score of 249 runs.

Despite the Proteas being the No 1-ranked Test team in the world and boasting the best pace attack in world cricket with three bowlers in the Top 10 of the ICC Test rankings, most felt that a loss for the Proteas was inevitable.

The fans had a glum outlook for the Proteas, with a measly 10% predicting the Proteas could spring a surprise by turning things around.

Sport24 asked:

"What do you think will be the result of the first Test for the Proteas against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi?"

These were the results:

10% - Wonderful win!
51% - Loathsome loss!
39% - Dull draw
