Fans give Boks 6/10 grade

Cape Town - Fans have given Heyneke Meyer's Springboks a "6/10" pass mark following their unbeaten European tour.

The Boks recording their first unbeaten end of year tour since 2008 with victories over Ireland (16-12), Scotland (21-10) and England (16-15) after an indifferent Rugby Championship campaign, which saw them finish third, behind New Zealand and Australia.

In a poll on the Sport24 website, readers were asked to "grade the Boks' European tour on a scale of 1 to 10".

Some 26% of the nearly 4 500 respondents gave the Boks a "6", with 21% feeling even more generous in awarding Meyer's men a "7".

Three percent went as far as to vote that the Boks warranted a perfect 10/10, while a further 3% felt victories over their sixth, 12th and fifth IRB-ranked opponents, respectively, deserved a lowly 1/10.

Meyer's Test coaching record after his first full year in charge reads played 12, won 7, lost 3, drawn 2, giving him a 58.33 win % record, which falls short of his predecessors Peter de Villiers (62%) and Jake White (67%).
