Fans divided on Spies loss

Cape Town - Pierre Spies's fans were devastated after he was ruled out for 8-12 weeks with a finger injury, but his critics believed the Boks might benefit from his absence.

Heyneke Meyer was left counting the cost of the Springboks' mounting injury toll, but chose to see the positives:

"Losing Pierre is obviously a setback, because he is the most experienced member of our forward pack, but we will never take any risks with injured players. Injuries are part of the game and this now provides an opportunity for someone else to stake a claim."
