Fans blast 'gutless' CSA

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have criticised Cricket South Africa (CSA) for agreeing to a proposal to put Australia, England and India in charge of world cricket.

Cricket South Africa voted in favour of the International Cricket Council's proposals effectively placing Australia, England and India in charge of the game. The International Cricket Council board on Saturday approved wide-ranging structural and governance reforms despite complaints that they place too much power in the hands of the "Big Three" of India, England and Australia.

The proposals were passed after gaining the support of eight of the ICC's 10 full members, with Sri Lanka and Pakistan - who have both been vocally opposed - abstaining.

South Africa had previously opposed the reforms, which met with virulent opposition after they were debated at a board meeting in Dubai last month.

But, in an 11th hour decision, CSA made a shock about-turn and South African board member Chris Nenzani was one of the eight to vote in favour at a luxury hotel in Singapore on Saturday.

He did not answer questions about the meeting as he left.

This is what Sport24 readers had to say about CSA's decision:

"CSA is led by bunch of losers" - Kgosi Samuel Mogosetso

"CSA is gutless!" - Nigel Vos

"This can be called betrail by an incompetent CSA appointment. Clearly his own interest comes first. He should be stoned at the airport when he returns. This can be called betrail by an incompetent CSA appointment. Clearly his own interest comes first. He should be stoned at the airport when he returns." - Jamba

"Money, money, money, CSA likes the sound of money." - Jannie Koekemoer

"Political appointees who are incapable of making decisions in the interest of the game. Now give me my bonus." - Nick van Graan

"It is a shame that money has become the centre point in stead of what is good for the game. South Africa again became a joke for heavily opposing the changes but when it went to a vote we did not have the guts to use our position of power. We could have forced this whole thing to be referred back for further deliberation but money talks.Shame on you CSA." - Peet Roodt

"I wonder what the CSA guys kick back will be. We lived through isolation in the days of so called apartheid and survived, These losers are only interested in the money and not the game of cricket. They are now very deep up India's arse, with England supplying the Vaseline and Australia giving the push." - Wolf Pack Hunter

"So if you are really unhappy, boycott all cricket in SA starting with the Aussies. If not, suck up to your new bosses, show you colors or shut up, and I hope dust gets a few hundred thousand e mails saying we don't want this dictatorial system on our TV's! DRS is next to go. Welcome to the 16th century and colonialism." - Philip John Bachus

"Who is Chris Nenzani? Why is he at this fancy hotel in Singapore? Why is Lorgat in a senior position in CSA? How much money was paid to these chaps? What's the point of watching cricket, it's now only about the money." - Bruce Gatland

"What were these tonsils paid?? I am so livid, not only does our government have no spines even in the sporting arena our leaders are useless. They are a bunch of idiots." - The fith element

"Time will tell why this happened , promises , alliances , just wait and see its hard to think that SA would endorse this without getting something out thats just not on." - Chris Smith

"This is the final straw I will no longer support CSA in any way, shape or form. I'll watch my boy play school cricket or the odd club game but that is it. I feel betrayed, disappointed and disgusted at the lack of backbone and integrity of our so called administrators. The last India series should have been a wake up call but still they allowed the BCCI to bend them over and do them dry. What a bunch of spineless, hypocritical men." - Joe Massa

"Shame on you CSA. You sold your soul to the devil." - Donovan Senus

"Spineless sellouts!! This will only benefit Australia, India and England in terms of revenue and amount of tests played. We will now see them playing 40 tests a year while the smaller unions get 15 tests a year. Sad that they need to resort to bullying tactics to be able to compete with world number 1, South Africa." - Nico Pretorius

"15 Tests a year is more than we are currently playing. If Eng/Aus/Ind want to play 40 Tests a year, let 'em. Let's see how Pup's back or Ryan's knee copes with that. The ICC has now said that countries must immediately start scheduling bilateral series so that they can get an overall schedule sorted up to 2023. I would rather wait until I see that schedule before deciding whether Test cricket will just be Ind/Aus/Eng playing each other, or whether the Proteas will play less or more Test cricket under the new dispensation." - Richard Barnes

"In SA, anything can be bought. Values tops the list of shoppers." - J

"Hahaha, another brown envelop episode in Cricket SA. SA is really for sale for the highest bidder!" - Theo Martinez

"This sucks, so we have no seat on the executive and no say on the game anymore? CSA is spineless..." - TMAN rings

"Makes one wonder how much money was passed under the table....!!" - Flip Koen

"Goodbye cricket. It was fun while it lasted..." - Kalawa Sledgehammer

"Just like South Africa to follow a nation that is known for their cricket corruption ......now cricket has lost it's shine for good." - Donovan Armstrong

"What would Hansie and Herschelle say?" - Jon Louw

"I think CSA was just opposing it to get a better deal for themselves...and even pak and sri lanka abstained they should have voted against it if they were battling for principles ...just to please big 3 and anti india sentiments at same time they abstained ......" Abhijit Ghangurdi

"CSA- you bunch of pathetic pussy cats." - Omar Hartley

One of the apparent benefits of the deal was more cricket for the Proteas. (Gallo Images)
