Fans blast blundering Bulls

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have blasted the Blue Bulls after a disappointing Currie Cup season in which they failed to reach the semi-finals.

The Blue Bulls went into their game on Saturday against the Free State Cheetahs needing a five-point victory and a winning margin of more than eight points.

They also needed to prevent the Cheetahs from scoring a single bonus point if they were to advance to the semi-finals.

They ended up not getting close - losing 22-7 with most of their returning Springboks.

The Bulls have gone from winning the South African Conference in Super Rugby this season to missing out on a Currie Cup playoff place, prompting many to ask what is wrong in Pretoria.

This is the second time in three years that the Blue Bulls have failed to reach the semi-finals of the Currie Cup, after winning the Currie Cup five times in the past decade.

The loss had some fans wondering if their player exodus had finally taken its toll, whilst others blamed the under-fire coaching staff, as fans of rival teams took the opportunity to put in the boot.

This is what Sport24 readers had to say:

"Bulls performance 0/10."
- Kevin Robarts

"Never I would live to see a poor Bulls side like this! Surely with so many talented young players to perform like this week after week is a clear finger pointing at the coaching team. Time for clean slate!"
- Jannie Meyer

"Pathetic Pine Pienaar..."
- Rhinus Groeneveld

"Worst Bull performance ever. Coach team must go go go go!" - Pienaar Jordaan

"Pink cow Pie Pienaar useless!"
- George Forge

"Shame, better luck next year Bulls."
- Adrian Snyman

"RIP Blue Bulls" - FNWitch

"Well played Cheetahs." - Jim King

"The Blue Bulls are a total disappointment."
- Kevin Boman

"I don't think anyone expected the Bulls to win."
- Zoheb Hassan

"Pinenut is doing wonders." - Grant Wright

Groot fout by die bulle."
- Stefan Erasmus

"All I can say is what Province supporters allways say: Check us next year! The Cheetas were the best team for the day, period." - Erick Vogel
