Cape Town - Fans have questioned selection policies and the commitment of the Proteas after their shock ODI series loss to New Zealand on Tuesday.

It was New Zealand's first ever win in any series in South Africa.

Here's what Sport24 readers had to say about the Proteas losing the series:

"The Proteas seem unable to adapt between ODIs and Tests. The batting is suspect without Amla and Kallis. Fielding not up to standard. Middle and lower order are not coming to the party so if Faf fails we are exposed." - Harold Marsberg

"I was in Algeria in 2005 and  a businessman I met there told me SA cricket was corrupt to the core by bookies. He said "If SA wins the 5 day tests, they will lose the 1 day series". I didn't believe him but looking at this series against New Zealand, it seems he was correct. How can a team not make 50 runs in their 1st innings twice come out in the 1 day series and win? Especially the run outs? The bookies made a "killing" with this."
- Johan Fourie

"I smell a rat! Keep a check on Graeme's bank account. 5 Run-outs? This after comfortably being on a winning route?"
- Chaz Fury

"Yeah, we knew it wouldn't be five minutes and someone would blame it on match-fixing. Well, here's an alternative suggestion for you: the Tests were fixed and these ODI games represent the real cricketing ability of both sides."
- Richard Barnes

"Pride comes before a fall and arrogance before implosion." - Barry Freeman

"We need to play our best XI at all times."
- dhirshan.gobind

"These Kiwi's always seem to trip us up in the ODI format of the game. Well done to them."
- patrick.buckley712

"Proteas have been down before and will rise to the occasion again."
- jaycee.bezuidenhout

"You thought the pressure was on SA to save the series? Please...the real pressure is on stopping a 3-0 white-wash!"

"Middle order batsmen should not be there, wilderness is the answer for them. Ditch Behardien, Miller and McClaren who are way below par for the one day game." - Brian Kaighin

"This is what happens when you underestimate the opposition and 'rest' your best..." - squeegee.pilot

"First ever series win for NZ in SA is disgraceful."
- jrheeder

"How the mighty have fallen!" - sean

"Stupidity saw SA crumble. This SA 'A' side is too experimental for Kirsten, we either support the loss...or work on the post mortem. Why do we win one, lose one or draw a series at home, why cant we always win both?"

"How the hell can you have so many run outs? Comical errors are not even justifiable, neither is pushing the self destruct button."
- S

"Just shows how valuable guys like Hashim, AB, Kallis and Steyn are to us."
- unverifiedcomedian

"This NZ side just shared a Test series 1-1 in Aus. I'd like to see Zim or Bang win a Test in Aus. They also drew their Test series in Sri Lanka 1-1. The last time the Proteas were in Sri Lanka, we lost 2-0. NZ surely aren't a top Test side but they're not as woeful as many make out. Besides, the arrogant fans made no distinction between NZ's Test and ODI capabilities. They were saying that we'd humiliate NZ in EVERY match on this tour, regardless of format. Even after the unexpected loss in Paarl, many Proteas fans were saying "So what, we'll destroy them in Kimberley and then go on to win the series." Well, time to wake up and smell the coffee." - RB

"To top it off the Proteas were laughing in the dressing room while they performed like school boys. 50% of this ODI team should be dropped."
- Piksteel

"Tests are real cricket. Totally different game to ODI and T20 baseball." -

"It looked like Allan Donald was the running between the wickets coach!"
- Wayne

"If you can't blood youngsters and relatively inexperienced players in an ODI series against New Zealand, when can you pick them? I will gladly endorse a series loss to the Black Caps if it means we win the World Cup in 2015." - Anonymous
