Fans: Stormers heads to roll!

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have run out of patience with the Stormers coaching staff after a dismal run of results from the team.

The Stormers currently 'boast' one win from seven matches - their worst start to the season in Super Rugby history - as they languish at the bottom of the Super Rugby log, two points adrift of the Cheetahs.

The Stormers' woes have been epitomised by an inability to score tries, a lack of ingenuity on attack, and a seemingly predictable one-dimensional approach, which they have been unable to rectify, despite repeated signs of the ineffectiveness of their gameplan.

The Newlands faithful have vented their rage at what they view as the failure of the coaching trio of Allister Coetzee, Matt Proudfoot and Robbie Fleck, while the Stormers coaching staff's perceived ineptitude has made them an object of ridicule for opposition fans.

Despite efforts by the Stormers administration to stop the rot by appointing former Springbok and Ireland forwards coach Gert Smal as director of rugby, many were still calling for heads to roll following the shocking start to their 2014 campaign.

This is what Sport24 readers had to say:

"Normally I would laugh at excuses but this is really becoming unbearable even though I'm a sharks supporter." - Tyrone Woods

"AC's always hunting around for more excuses." - Stephen Trenam

"Do the honourable thing and leave!" - Sean Wolf

"With this totally useless coach Coetzee we might loose next week.
WAKEFIELD,HOW MUCH LONGER? YOU NEXT." - Kenny Grass

"AC is a braindead stubborn excuse filled moron who does not know when to quit." - Sky Rider

"AC was Jake's apprentice, but its clear AC has got a lot to learn." - TW

"We all look forward to Coetzee saying "bye"." - Skrap Nel

"Players making the wrong decisions during crucial times?? You COACH that out of them, or into them, in this case. Next coach please." - Theo Ferreira

"The game plan of a wannabee coach's game plan taking its inevitable toll on the talented players of the Cape." - Platberg Moffskaap

"For the Stormers' sake, perhaps coach must say good'bye'." - CLOUDCHASER

"Pack your stuff and leave..." - JP de Jager

"Not a Stormers supporter... but would love to see them performing a lot better!
Seriously need to get rid of AC and RF - They have had enough time to prove themelves non worthy of the positions they hold. I hope Gert Smal brings in the right changes and rebuilds this team and surrounds them with forward thinking coaches... The Sharks need more local competition and SA rugby needs more winning teams!" - Bertrand Mauvis

"Let me remove my Lions cap and wear the SA supporters cap. Yea we all like poking fun at them but all things considered a weak Stormers outfit will hurt SA rugby. Same goes for the Bulls and Sharks. Those 3 teams usually provide the bulk of the Bokke. One of them falling apart is not good news." - Vickers Vermeulen

"Yes Allister Coetzee. All and sundry should shoulder the blame. It is everybodys fault except yours. Man up and admit your time is over." - Wouter de Vos

"If AC doesn't get rooted out than it's quite clear that his approval and continuation is motivated by a political agenda." - ST

"Fire him ASAP." - Israel Jonathan

"You are an expert on excuses you fool. How many excuses do you still have up your sleeve. Do you realize what a fool you making of yourself . you are the laughing stock of SA rugby. You are a clown please join a circus, you will fit in well." - Gert Steenkamp

"Such a pathetic coach, he needs a permanent vacation." - Tyronne Jardim

"AC is the most over-rated coach in South Africa...Rassie Erasmus took the Stormers to the top,but resigned and left everything in incompetent but "world cup winning coach" AC's hands.Since then the Stormers have gone backwards and the excuses for the poor results kept flying in thick and fast from AC's mouth. As Nick Mallet said yesterday "We see a Stormers team(under AC) that can't cope at this level...Did they prepare themselves correctly..Have they not bought correctly..." - Sean

"The only good thing about how poorly the Stormers are performing is that it exposes AC for the idiot that he is. The defensive gameplan destroys players' bodies. He is to blame for the injury list he claims to be a victim of. Ask him where the strength of his team is, and he would not be able to answer. Clueless twit." - Band Leader

"The 2 coaches that have the most to loose and I wouldn't be surprised if they lose there jobs if they dont turn their teams around with some spectacular performances in the next few games, is both Alistair Coetzee and Naka Drotske, although I think the one under most pressure is Coetzee. To sit and watch these 2 teams consistently play way under their potential is embarrassing and it totally unacceptable and all the senior players and especially coaching staff need to be held responsible." - Dene Paul Elliott

"Only thing that can lift the Stormers is get rid of the coaches." - Lionel Kemm

"Smal will on Monday meet with Stormers coaches - Allister Coetzee, Robbie Fleck and Matthew Proudfoot - to see how their systems are working... To see how their systems are working?? Last on the log, is pretty damning evidence, that they are NOT working! And improve attack? What attack?" - Izzi Max

"What Smal needs to do is get rid of AC and Company . Take a cue from John Smit . He has done wonders for the Sharks this year and last year when he took over . AC is the worst coach in SA." - TJ

"Fire the coaching staff, appoint competent coaches, start the rebuilding by giving more exposure to inexperienced players and manage the senior players." - Bloumasjien Bloubloed

"These jokers have become like the three stooges, only the joke has ceased to be funny anymore." - HQ
