I still think that the current South African rugby talent pool has enough players that can kick the All Blacks to pieces... Peter De Villiers beat the All Blacks more times than any coach has ever done. He has also beaten Australia by 53 - 8 in August 2008. He is one of a few coaches to win against the All Blacks at the famous house of pain. He also did it in Wellington. Something only maybe 1% of world rugby coaches has achieve. And that will never be taken away from him. It will also take a long time to get rid of that.
Sonny Bill Williams played for the All Blacks in 2011 and they lost to the Springboks that year. Savea? Please! He is good but we have a lot of unpicked players that match.
It is funny that people say that PDV picked a world cup winning squad and hence he succeeded in his tenure. Well, how was that world cup winning squad doing against proper opposition? They only beat England twice in that world cup and that is how they won it. Had they played Australia or the All Blacks in 2007, I am pretty sure that they were not going to proceed. The one mistake PDV made was not blood enough young talent to mix with the old guard. And that is not only his failure it is also the failure of HM. Or is it maybe the failure of SARU? Too much talent is left unpicked. How long did it take for Frans Louw and Duane Vermeulen to be regular Springboks? Peter de Villiers should have picked Duane Vermeulen a long time ago. There are many other players who are not picked but hey.
