Coetzee lucky to avoid axe

I say that AC is very lucky to still be the head coach. Plumtree was sacked this year and his team has been doing better than the Stormers at both Currie cup and Super rugby level. They might not have a super title or currie cup title for a while but they at least got to the top spots each year, baring this year. As for AC’s complaints, maybe he needs to look at his teams atmosphere, fitness and need to rely on 1 or 2 players only. Rugby is a team sport, not an individual sport. Schalk did not play 1 game this year and the Stormers were really hoping he would be back. I can’t believe that they feel this man is the team hero or the man to bring mirracles.

Another thing, AC needs to look at young talent and work on them. I’m glad that players like Habana is finally leaving. He is an “old man” in rugby and should have been released at the end of last year, to give way to Van Der Heefer, who is an up and coming star. But nope, if it worked last year, its got to work this year.

Look at the Brumbies. KJake white has them for 2 years. His first year had the Brumbies going far. This year, they topped the log for almost the entire season. I say that is amazing work from a man who has only worked with a team for 1 and a half years. Most coaches know their teams before working with them. AC has been working with the Stormers for many years and should know when a player is at the end of his cycle.

So AC, as they say, Man Up and admit that the Stormers did not perform due to internal issues and not because of the Pitches, Refs or traveling.
