Cape Town - A number of Sport24 readers have hit back angrily at Ali Bacher questioning Cricket South Africa CEO Haroon Lorgat for answers regarding allegations of political interference in thw sms-gate saga.
Read below what our readers had to say:
Mac Naidoo: "Look who is talking actually you should shut up. During your days you
never said anything when dolly d' oliviera was kicked out from the sa
side. You are part of the apartheid system that enjoyed playing with
only white side. Now you want an explaination. Take a hike"
Daniel Wessels: " Actually Mac has a point, except in the case of Basil d'oliviera Ali
Bacher was a player and not an administrator, secondly Dr Bacher says
“In my view, if a quota system exists (in the national team), then it
must be made official policy. There will be people not in favour of it,
but they will accept it. People need to know where they stand.” People
knew where they stood in those days, there could only be white players,
this was an incredible miscarry of justice but Dr Bacher is not
defending it at all."
Anthony Links: "Mac Naidoo you are actually 100% correct. If my memory serves me right
wasn't Ali Bacher instrumental in getting the rebel tours to SA during
the isolation era. Didn't the government give him millions of tax payer
Rands to buy players from Aus, England, WI, Sri Lanka to play against
white SA teams?? That was millions of Rands that could have been better
spend on our communities as we were (and still are) tax payers as well.
Ali Bacher should have a good look at himself. Just the arrogance he
is showing now is mind boggling."
Fifi Stewart: "hello Mr. Bacher - you might remember Patrick Holbane and the incident
at Zoo Lake when you told me 15 minutes before play to allow him into
our team and to drop one of the selected players. you were advised very
quickly to head back to the Wanderers cause the team might lynch you. so
what Lorgat did was not such a bad sin. Harold Stewart"
