Vettel told to focus on driving his Ferrari

Cape Town - Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene has told Sebastian Vettel to focus more on the car instead of behind the scenes if he is to improve his results.

The German driver is yet to win a race in 2016, enduring one of his worst seasons in his career.

Arrivabene reckons that at times Vettel’s attention to detail can be his downfall.

"Sebastian just needs to focus on the car," the Italian told Autosport.

"He is a person who gives so much and sometimes this means he is interested in a bit of everything.

"So sometimes you have to re-focus him, remind him to be focused on the main job."

When asked to compare his time at Red Bull, where he won four World Titles, to Ferrari, the 29-year-old explained that he is in two very different positions so it’s hard to draw any comparisons.

"It's very different,” he said. "When I joined Red Bull, I was 21 years old.

"I have a bit more experience now, so it's a completely different situation.

"When you grow up, you build a certain experience and you're able to see the bigger picture.

"It changes also your mind and your perspective of things - if I can see I can help somewhere.

"In the end I'm here to drive the car but also here to help."
