Cape Town - Although Kimi Raikkonen says a "lot of things" are falling into place for Ferrari, he acknowledges there is still room to improve.

The Finn's team-mate Sebastian Vettel is battling Lewis Hamilton for this year's World title while Ferrari are closer to Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship than they have been in years.

That is in part down to Raikkonen's eight podium finishes.

Although the Finn is yet to win a grand prix this season, he has shown good form on grand prix Sundays to sit third in the championship.

The 38-year-old puts Ferrari's improvement down to a "lot of things."

He said: "We have a decent car, we keep improving things.

"It’s a lot to do with the feel, how you feel the car and tyres and all these things.

"Obviously some circuits are better, some conditions are better for one team than other, and I think we’ve been pretty okay most of the places.

"I think a lot of things will be falling in the right places.

"There’s still things to improve for us as a whole team, but that’s never-ending.

"It doesn’t matter, even if you win all the races there’s always things to improve.

"That kind of area in this sport will never stop and I don’t think you are ever good enough in many ways."

Raikkonen has yet to secure his place on the 2019 grid with some reports suggesting Ferrari are set to drop him in favour of Charles Leclerc, while other say he will again be handed a new one-year deal.
