Marko wants 'fast and reliable engine' from Renault

Cape Town - Helmut Marko was not impressed with Renault after a failure put Daniel Ricciardo out of the Bahrain GP.

Red Bull went into the desert race believing that a victory was possible given their long distance pace earlier in the weekend.

Their hopes, though, were shattered just two laps in.

Ricciardo retired two minutes into the grand prix due to an energy store failure while Max Verstappen suffered a puncture when he ran over Lewis Hamilton's front wing.

Marko was not happy.

"The problem of Ricciardo is it is not the first time it's happened," the Red Bull advisor told Autosport.

"What can you do when a technical issue just stops you completely?

"And we were unlucky with Max, he got such a heavy hit. It broke the wheel, and also the diff was damaged in the impact.

"First we have to sort out our qualifying, but we need a fast and reliable engine."
