Leclerc: Stupid to expect regular points

Cape Town - Charles Leclerc is keeping his feet firmly on the ground, saying it "would be stupid" to think points and Q2 appearances will come regularly this season.

Having run at the back of the field at the start of this season, Leclerc scored his first F1 World Championship last time out in Baku.

Qualifying 13th for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Monegasque driver finished an impressive sixth on the Sunday.

But while Leclerc was delighted with his performance, and the end result, he concedes it would not be realistic to expect that at very race.

Asked by Autosport if his Baku result meant Q2 appearances and points were now his target, he replied: "This is something I need to be careful of.

"Being realistic, this is not going to happen every race.

"OK, everything went very well, but nobody should expect the same race next time.

"It would be stupid.

"We shouldn't expect this, but we'll work to get a similar result in the future."
