Hamilton: Title No 5 is the ultimate goal

Cape Town -  It seems it is only a matter of time before Lewis Hamilton re-signs with Mercedes, but the Brit hopes to have his new contract wrapped up before Melbourne.

Hamilton is in talks with the Brackley squad about a new deal that is reportedly worth £40million-a-year.

But while the negotiations have been going on for a while now, Hamilton says they are close to being concluded.

"I hope it will happen (before Melbourne)," said the four-time World Champ. "We have of course got this year to focus on, but it will happen.

"We have been talking and continue to talk.

"It is quite a relaxed atmosphere for us because Mercedes know I am committed to them, and they have expressed they are committed to me," he said

"I sit here quite relaxed. It is about constantly trying to find common ground.

"Ultimately with contracts and partnerships you always want to work on how you can do better and to provide that service and vice-versa, by how you can extract more from each other so that is what we are working on," said Hamilton.
