Hamilton has no interest in retiring soon

Cape Town - Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton insists he has no interest in retiring "any time soon" as he still feels "fantastic, physically and mentally".

The Mercedes driver is well on his way to seventh Formula 1 title after he extended his lead at the top of the standings to 62 points with victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix over the weekend.

At the age of 34, he is one of the elder statesmen on the F1 grid and some drivers would perhaps start to consider packing it all in, especially after winning nearly everything.

But not Hamilton, he believes he still has a lot left to achieve with Mercedes.

"One day I will have to stop but right now I feel fantastic, physically and mentally," Hamilton told The Guardian.

"I don't have any plans on stopping any time soon - there is more to do, more to win, more to achieve together inside and outside the car.

"It's been a phenomenal journey. We had our first win in Hungary together in 2013 and we have gone from strength to strength.

"The majority of the people are still here from when I joined the team. This journey had been remarkable, now I am excited to see what more we could do together."
