A new race engineer for Bottas in 2019

Cape Town - Valtteri Bottas will have a new race engineer for the 2019 season with Tony Ross moving over to Mercedes' Formula E project.

Ross, who joined Mercedes in 2011, has been Bottas' engineer for the past two seasons, playing a pivotal role in his breakthrough win at the 2017 Russian Grand Prix.

This season has been a difficult one for the Finnish racer, who finished it win-less after near-misses in Azerbaijan and Russia.

And at the end of it all, he had to say goodbye to Ross.

"Tony Ross is going to be the chief race engineer of our Formula E programme," Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff told Crash.net.

"He’s had enough of you guys! He’s going to dash off into a funny environment with only one race day and funky cities.

"Who replaces him, who, we’re discussing that. Give me a few weeks."
