Vettel tops Top Gear record

Sebastian Vettel has broken yet another record - one that millions will see and applaud.

The Red Bull driver, already Formula 1's youngest race and title winner, broke Rubens Barrichello's lap time on the popular British motoring programme Top Gear.

The flying lap, called 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car', takes place at the show's UK test track with celebs and motorsport aces at the wheel of a Suzuki Liana.

PRE-GP BLAST

Back in 2009, Barrichello leapt to the top of the times by beating times set by (then) mystery Top Gear driver The Stig (Ben Collins) as well as the likes of Nigel Mansell, Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber.

Vettel broke the current Top Gear record just before the 2011 British F1 GP with a time of 1min44, three-tenths quicker than Barrichello.

"Why are we all surprised," host Jeremy Clarkson joked, "that he's faster than a 62-year-old Brazilian?"

We can't show you the entire episode, though we'd really like to, so here's a trailer of Vettel's lap:
