Cape Town - South Africa's Gary Player, one of the greatest golfers of all time, turned 83 years old on Thursday.
Known for leading a healthy lifestyle and embracing nature, Player still exercises regularly both in the gym and out on the golf course.
The winner of nine Grand Slam titles received birthday wishes from far and wide on social medial, with one post in particular standing out.
Jack Nicklaus, one of Player's great rivals over the years, sent Player a message wishing him a happy birthday from his office.
With his feet up on his desk, Nicklaus instructed people in his office to perform 83 'Jumping Gary's' in honour of a man he says is "the best".
"You've been a friend of mine for a long time, Gary," Nicklaus said.
"You're the best at everything you do and you're the most enthusiastic guy I have ever met."
The hashtag #Jump4Gary started doing the rounds on Twitter, with the golfing community paying their respects to one of the legends of the game.
