Love III inducted into Hall of Fame

Cape Town - Davis Love III was one of five golfers that were inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

The American has been apart of the PGA Tour for over 30 years and he has notched up 22 wins, most recently at the 2015 Wyndham Championship at he age of 52.

Love was also the captain of the winning US Ryder Cup team earlier this month.

"Thanks to the hard work and diligence of both the selection sub-committee and the selection commission, we have the privilege of bringing in one of our strongest classes to date," said Jack Peter, President of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

"We look forward to an exciting year ahead as we prepare for the induction ceremony, which will be hosted appropriately in the 'city of dreams' - New York City."

The other four inductees include LPGA star Lorena Ochoa, who will be the first Mexican to enter the Hall of Fame.

Meanwhile, England's Ian Woosnam was recognised for featuring in eight consecutive Ryder Cup teams, among other accolades.

Finally, LPGA veteran and four-time major winner Meg Mallon, as well as Henry Longhurst - recognised as golf's first TV personality - were also inducted.
