Cape Town - SA's top ranked golfer Louis Oosthuizen is taking a lot of confidence from his second-place finish at the Australian Open for this week's Presidents Cup.

Oosthuizen carded a final round of 66 to finish on 14-under for the tournament, one shot behind winner Australian Matt Jones.

The 37-year-old is the only South African in International captain Ernie Els' team.

Every Presidents Cup International team has had more than one player from South Africa on the team, except one - in 1998, when Els was on the winning team at Royal Melbourne.

Oosthuizen will make his fourth Presidents Cup appearance this week and stated that he is ready to take on a star-studded US team.

"I used this week as preparation for next and obviously I'll take a lot of confidence out of this and hopefully we can pull it off next week," Oosthuizen told the PGA Tour website.

"I'm ready. Game face is on now and I'm ready."

Oosthuizen has won seven matches in the Presidents Cup and owns the second-most wins of any current International team members behind Australian Adam Scott (14).

He is one of four players who went undefeated at the 2015 Presidents Cup, winning his first four matches with fellow South African Branden Grace before halving his singles match with Patrick Reed.

The 2019 Presidents Cup gets underway at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club this Thursday.
