Immelman looks set to follow in Masters-winning father's footsteps

Jacob Immelman, son of South African golfer Trevor Immelman, has won the US Kids 13-14 age group event on Sunday at Royal St. Cloud Golf Links in Orlando.

Jacob, who plays under the American flag, posted six birdies to finish on an impressive 5-under 67, winning the 18-hole event by four strokes.

The 2008 Masters champion took to Twitter to highlight his son's feat and added it's the "best I've ever seen him play".

According to Golf.com, more than half of all golf courses in America have re-opened although under strict guidelines due to the coronavirus pandemic.

40-year-old Immelman was announced last month as International team captain for the 2021 Presidents Cup which is set to be held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte.

He becomes the third South African to captain an International Presidents Cup side after Ernie Els and three-time skipper Gary Player.

Immelman, who has competed in two Presidents Cup as a player, will be the youngest ever International team skipper in Presidents Cup history.
