BMW Golf Cup International World Final returns to Fancourt

Cape Town - The prestigious BMW Golf Cup International (GCI) World Final will, once again, be held in South Africa - at the magnificent Fancourt on the Garden Route in March 2020.

Now in its 26th year, the BMW Golf Cup International is the largest amateur golf tournament in the world.

This year, more than 100 000 amateurs from nearly 50 nations teed it up in various qualifying tournaments, hoping to pave their way to a once in a lifetime experience - a spot in the BMW GCI World Final.

Fancourt played welcoming hosts for the 2017 BMW GCI World Final, while earlier this year, winners from around the world winged their way to Cabo del Sol in Mexico for the global showpiece, where the South African contingent finished a creditable sixth overall.

The BMW GCI in South Africa is played on an Individual Stableford format with three handicap index categories:

- Men’s A Handicap  Index (0-12.4)

- Men’s B Handicap Index (12.5-28.4)

- Ladies Handicap Index (0-28.4)

Round 1 of qualifying took place at 60 member's days at golf clubs around South Africa.

The 3 winners of those day were then invited to participate at their regional Round 2 golf day where they competed alongside other winners of the member's golf day as well as guests of BMW dealers.

The top 3 finishers (3 from each handicap division) of each Round 2 golf day booked their spots at the BMW GCI National Final - where the winners will compete for the opportunity to represent South Africa in the BMW GCI World Final.

The BMW GCI National Final will take place at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City from January 29-31, 2020.

It promises to be a memorable experience and Sport24 wishes all competitors the very best of luck!
