Oakmont - Henrik Stenson's 2016 US Open came to a premature close on Saturday as the Swede withdrew before completing his second round.
"Minor neck and knee issues, nothing Major! Hope to be back in action next week! H," the 40-year-old tweeted after opting not to complete his second round on Saturday morning.
Stenson had opened with a promising one-under par 69 on Friday morning, but his second round devolved into a nightmare, with no birdies on his scorecard through 16 holes.
Stenson was the second Swede to make an early exit from Oakmont. Peter Hanson was disqualified on Friday for signing an incorrect scorecard.
