Cape Town - Gary Player wants US golfer Phil Mickelson to join him and four other players in the history books by winning the US Open at Chambers Bay.
Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Player, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen are the only players in history to win all four of the Grand Slam titles during the course of his career but Mickelson has the chance to join them should he prevail over a strong field this week.
Mickelson is a five-time major winning but has had his fare share of heartache when competing in the US Open, most notably in the 2013 US Open at Merion.
Gary Player responded to Sport24's question as to who is he backing for the 2015 US Open:

Player also feels that the nine South African golfers in the field will need to improve on their current form in order to contend. Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen are the only players in history to win all four of the Grand Slam titles during the course of his career.
While Charl Schwartzel has already hit out at the Chambers Bay course, Gary Player loves the design of the Robert Trent Jones, Jr golf course.
