Schwartzel to make long-awaited comeback at Leopard Creek

Cape Town - 2010 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel will make his long-awaited return to action at the Alfred Dunhill Championship this week after being sidelined for seven months with a wrist injury.

In June of this year, Schwartzel was forced to cut his season short to rehabilitate the injury.

Schwartzel only played in 11 PGA Tour events this season, missing seven cuts with a single Top 10 finish at the Puerto Rico Open.

The 35-year-old has not played a tournament since his missed cut at the RBC Heritage back in April.

Thanks to his enforced time away from the game, Schwartzel has seen his ranking fall to 250th in the Official World Golf Rankings, his lowest position since 2003.

However, the South African will make his return at his favourite stomping ground, Leopard Creek Country Club, where he has won a record four times.

Schwartzel hoisted the iconic Leopard-shaped trophy in 2005, 2013, 2014 and 2016 and has also finished second on four occasions.

Schwartzel will tee off in Round 1 on Thursday alongside compatriot Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Spain's Pablo Larrazabal at 07:10.
