'King' Louis soars up rankings after SA Open win

Cape Town - Louis Oosthuizen has shot up the world golf rankings after his win at the South African Open at Randpark Golf Club on Sunday.

Oosthuizen shot a 4-under-par 67 in the final round to finish on 18-under for the tournament and cruise to victory by six strokes in Johannesburg.

He became the sixth golfer to win the two oldest national golf championships in the world - the SA Open and the Open Championship.

Fellow South Africans Ernie Els, Bobby Locke and Gary Player, Swede Henrik Stenson and New Zealander Bob Charles previously achieved the 'double'.

It was also Oosthuizen's first win in two years and his ninth European Tour win.

Following his victory, Oosthuizen jumped 11 places - from 36th to 25th - in the world golf rankings, remaining the highest-ranked South African golfer.

Rankings: Top 20 - SA

The 36-year-old pocketed a cool €174 417 (R2.8m) for his efforts and jumped to third on the European Tour's Race to Dubai rankings.

Oosthuizen will be hoping to go back-to-back at this week's Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club in Malelane.
