Durban - Charl Schwartzel has won a BMW X3 for his hole-in-one during the third round of the South African Open at Durban Country Club.
Schwartzel aced the par-three 15th hole using a six-iron on Sunday.
Although Schwartzel's ace was not in the fourth round when the prize was on offer, sponsors BMW generously decided to award him the R615 000 car anyway.
England's Richard Bland aced the same 15th hole in the second round. Bland won two bottles of wine for his perfect fluke.
Schwartzel, 26, finished the 100th SA Open in fourth position, seven strokes behind winner Ernie Els.
Schwartzel picked up R444 355 for his efforts and in so doing clinched the 2010 Sunshine Tour Order of Merit title, banking a cool R5 097 913 and securing an invite to the 2011 Nedbank Golf Challenge in the process.
