England's Paul Casey believes this year's Ryder Cup should be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic that is currently sweeping across the globe.

The team event is slated to take place in Whistling Straits on the shores of Lake Michigan from 25-27 September.

However, the tournament is in serious danger of being delayed because of the pandemic around the world.

The golf calendar, like the rest of the sporting world, has already been heavily disrupted with the first two Major championships of the year, April's Masters and the PGA Championship in May, having already been postponed.

The Ryder Cup was pushed back by 12 months in 2001 due to the September 11 attacks in the United States and Casey feels the same precedent should be used now.

Casey told the BBC when asked if the Ryder Cup should be postponed: "Yes is the answer to that.

"I am never a fan of postponing stuff but it's been postponed before, so why can't it happen again?"

The PGA Tour has cancelled all tournaments until mid-May at the earliest.
