Woods to play at Riviera in February

Cape Town - Tiger Woods on Tuesday confirmed plans to play in February's Genesis Open in Los Angeles, returning to the tournament where he made his PGA Tour debut for the first time in 10 years.

Woods, who returned to golf earlier this month at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas after a 15-month injury layoff, said he was looking forward to the February 16-19 event at the Riviera Country Club in the affluent suburb of Pacific Palisades.

"I'm very excited to come back to Riviera and compete in the Genesis Open. This is where it all started for me," Woods said.

"It was my first PGA Tour event, I was 16 years old, I weighed about 105 pounds, and it was a life-changing moment for me."

Woods' charity arm, TGR Live, is the host of the Genesis Open, which benefits the former world number one's Tiger Woods Foundation.

"It’s an honor to have TGR Live running this historic event that will benefit my foundation," Woods said.

Woods made an encouraging return to golf in Nassau this month finishing at four-under-par in the 18-player event.

So far, the Genesis Open is the only event the 40-year-old has confirmed on his schedule for 2017.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
