Woods the bookies' favourite to win Masters

Cape Town - Tiger Woods is the favourite to don the green jacket at the 2019 Masters despite the event being six months out.

The former world number one has had more surgeries than major wins in the last ten years, but now he’s back with a bang.

Woods won his first title since 2013 at the PGA Tour’s season finale in September, the TOUR Championship, instilling belief in fans and experts alike that he still has what it takes to be a champion. The enormous galleries than followed Woods around East Lake was also an indication of the impact the 14-time major winner still has on fans.

Woods - who has four Masters titles and no less than 11 top five finishes - was the favourite among the bookmakers for a sixth win before the Tour Championship.

Now, his 80th PGA Tour victory has increased his odds, which are as low as 9/1 by some bookmakers. He is followed by 2015 winner Jordan Spieth and world number one Dustin Johnson.

The 83rd Masters Tournament tees of at the prestigious Augusta National on April 11, 2019.
