Cape Town - Tiger Woods spent Monday at Shinnecock Hills, getting a sneak peek at next month's US Open venue.
Woods will return to competition at this week's Memorial Tournament, but made the trip to Southampton, NY, to get a practice round in at the forthcoming US Open venue.
From there, he'll make the trip to Ohio to tee it up against a star-studded field at Muirfield Village Golf Club later this week.
"Here today at Shinnecock, and grateful every day to the men & women who sacrificed their lives to give us our freedom and allow us to do what we love", tweeted Woods.
Shinnecock hasn't hosted a US Open in 14 years, meaning many players will see the course for the first time this week.
Woods is not one of those players, however, having tied for 17th when Retief Goosen won in 2004.
Woods hasn't played on the PGA Tour since his T-11 finish at the Players Championship.
The US Open follows June 14-17.
